Overview

Cannabichromene (CBC) is the third most abundant cannabinoid in most cannabis cultivars. It is non-psychoactive and does not bind strongly to CB1 or CB2 receptors, instead interacting with TRPV1 and TRPA1 ion channels involved in pain perception and inflammation. Recent crop science research (2026) has demonstrated that CBC production is primarily genetically controlled, with high-CBC phenotypes remaining stable across multiple generations and diverse growing environments — a significant finding for breeding programs targeting CBC-rich cultivars.
