Now that it's legal: 7 things everyone gets wrong about cannabis in Grenada

Decriminalization brought a wave of confident wrong information. Let me clean up the seven I hear most. Facts only. Check them yourself.

1. "It's fully legal now, do what you want." It is decriminalized, not legal-legal. Cannabis is still a controlled substance under the amended law. Decriminalized means the criminal penalty for small amounts is removed. It does not mean open season.

2. "There's no limit anymore." There are clear limits. Possession up to 56 grams. Cultivation up to 4 plants. Those are the figures in the bill as passed. If you read a different number, it is out of date.

3. "Any age is fine now." The legal age is 21. Not 18. Around schools especially, there are consequences for under-age use.

4. "I can smoke anywhere in public." No. Public consumption is still prohibited, particularly in and around schools, workplaces, public spaces, and public transport. Possession is not the same as public use.

5. "If my teenager gets caught, they get a record." The law takes a different route for young people. Under 18 is referred to child protection, not criminalized. Ages 18 to 20 are referred to an education and support program. Diversion, not a record.

6. "Store CBD and cannabis are the same legal thing." Not automatically. Read the label. CBD, hemp, and THC are different words with different rules. Know what you actually bought.

7. "More is stronger, so take more." Dosing does not work like that, especially with edibles and tinctures. Start low. Go slow. If you want the math instead of a guess, use the free calculator at phytopedia.co/calculator.

One more thing, because it matters. Everything on this list touching the law is grounded in the actual bill and the public record, not opinion. When the licensing details are finalized, you will hear it here, straight, with a source.

Do not take my word for it either. That is the whole idea. Think for yourself, just do it with the real numbers.
